School days...

Today was another fun day of school. Today we talked about how much our mom's and dad's love us and that no matter what we do, they never stop loving us. We also talked about family traditions, that we have certain things that we do every year. We were supposed to make family collages, but last night I was laying in bed and was just drifting to sleep I woke up suddenly and realized that I hadn't cut out the pictures for the kids to glue. It was past midnight, and I knew that if I got up then, I would not be able to get up in the morning. So, I dreamt all night about what we could do instead. So, since we were talking about traditions, I decided that we would make cookies, since that is what the girls and I love to do every month. So, each child got to put in an ingredient and help make them. They were so excited when the beeper went off that they wanted to eat them immediatly. They were a little sad that I made them wait a few minutes to let them cool down. But, boy was it fun! They love cooking, and ask lots of questions. I sent home a book that they can do together as a family. It is their family book of traditions. There is a page for every month and they can write down what they do that is special every month. Then, in two weeks we will have them talk about what their favorite family tradition is.

I had put the last pan of cookies in and set the timer and then, as it went off, one of the mom's came to pick up their child, so I thought, "I'll get it out in just a minute..." Well, a half hour later... my house wasn't smelling like fresh baked chocolate chip cookies anymore. I realized that I had left the pan in the oven. Oh my, they were black hockey pucks!!! One little girls brother came to get her and he walked in and told me that it was stinky in here!!! They are sitting on the back porch, and hopefully won't lure any wild animals to my yard!! Now my house is starting to smell normal again, it takes a long time to get that burnt smell out of a house!!!

Well, I am off to the dr. I have to go and get popped and straightened. I hope you all are having a great day!

What a "joy"...

So, I started my turn teaching for our Joy School group yesterday. What a great time we had. There are 5 kids in our class, all of them being 3 or 4. There are 3 boys: Caleb, Isaac, and Zachary. Two little girls: Jillian (beene) and Sara. They are such great kids. They compliment eachother so well. Last semester I taught the Thanksgiving lesson and was not organized or really prepared. I would do my lessons the night before and I just didn't have as much fun with them as I wished I could have. There were lots of time outs and I am sure I wasn't as patient as I should have been. So... this time, I was determined to have a good time with this. I am teaching about Families and the great things that go along with being in a family. I started planning my lessons two weeks ago and was planned to the 10 minute increments. Boy am I glad that I did that. I had a great time with them yesterday. We laughed, and played games. We got bored with somethings and just started dancing around. We have to do A LOT of wiggles out activities, because they just get bored without them. So, I was asking them what their favorite thing was, and they said that the dancing was thier favorite part. So, on wednesday when we have school again, I think that we will dance around for our wiggles out activities.

We made Turtle Pages for our letter T projects, with 4 triangles because we are learning about the number4 as well. We also made a circle of friends, with all the names of the people in our class. They looked like paper dolls that were holding hands, and we made them into a circle. They started thier family books today as well, I made them thier own family books and everyday we have class, they will color one page in the book. Yesterday they drew a self portrait. It is fun to see how they see themselves. Next time they are going to draw mom and dad. We read Courduroy and talked about "belonging to a family or group". It amazes me that they understand certain things being 3 or 4. I always think, I can't teach that... thier only 3, but they always surprise me and know what I am talking about!

I just love teaching these kids and getting to know them. If you have the opportunity to get into a Joy School group, it is fabulous and a lot cheaper than a normal preschool. Next year we are going to be doing more kinder prep with them, and that will be fun. It is great to see them know what thier name looks like on paper, and the friends that they are making will last a long time. I love that there are 5 of us mom's so, we only have to teach one unit a semester. We teach 3 weeks and then we are done. So great!!! I am excited for next year because I will be doing two different groups. Julles loves it when school is at our house because she gets to do all the "big kid" stuff, so she will be sooo ready for it next year!!!

On Wednesday I am going to take pictures of these cute kids and show you how lovely they are!!

The above picture is of the first day of school. We were missing Zachary, he was sick. But, these are the kidlets I am talking about. They were at Isaac's house and had a great time. (from left to right: Jillian, Sara, Caleb, and Isaac) It is funny to me that at school, Beene prefers to be called Jillian. Anytime I called her Beene yesterday, she would correct me.

Oh dear... what have I done!!!

So, I was thinking the other day about something and it is a little embarassing. But what the heck... I'll post it on my blog!!

Julles doesn't like bugs. She is scared to death of them. She used to scream and get paralized. I have noticed that she doesn't do it too much anymore though. I have noticed that she growls a lot more lately. The other day I saw her leaning over a boxelder bug crawling across the carpet and growling at it. Jonathan and I started laughing like crazy and he said, "She gets that from you!!"

After a few moments, I realized that since I have been little I haven't loved bugs and spiders. I usually will just leave the room or have Jonathan come an kill them. Then, I realized something... she does get it from me. I still to this day don't love the creepy things and I too growl at them. I don't know if I try to scare them or what... but yes... she does get it from me! I started to turn bright red and Jonathan said, "What is wrong??" I then told him the sad truth and he started laughing and said, "Why do you think that I said what I said?" I didn't ever think anyone had seen me do that. I always think I am alone when I do it. Obviously I was wrong, not only has my husband seen me do that, but my daughter has begun to do the same thing!! Couldn't I have taught her something worth while? No, just to growl at spiders and bugs!

Julles... she is so stinkin cute!!!

Julles is such a cute little baby girl! Everytime she picks something up lately at home or at a store, she says... "Daddy buyed me that, huh mom!" or "We have that at home huh mom!" and I love it to pieces!! Well, for valentines day my mom and dad got them m&m heart's that had a bag of candy inside it. We went to Wal Mart the other day and went down the Valentines clearance aisle. She saw some of the m&m hearts, and said, "Stop mom, yook, Gwamma buyed me that!" So cute. Then we were at Sam's club and she saw this big box of fruit snacks, like my mom and dad get at Costco, and she said, "gwamma has that at her house!" Then she saw some movies and said, "we have that at our house!!"

As we were getting ready to check out at Sam's Club, she told me that her tummy hurt (that is what she says when she is hungry or thirsty), so I told her we would get a drink. She said, "I want hot dog at sam's pub!" So, since you can get a total deal at Sam's and get a huge drink and a huge hot dog for a buck, I got a combo. If any of you have seen a hot dog from this store, you know that they are giant! Well, she doesn't like the bun... usually she shares one with Beene, so I thought, she won't eat all of this... I cut it up into little pieces and got her a fork, because that is the only way she will eat it. She ate the ENTIRE thing in less than 5 minutes. Then she looked at me and told me, "my tummy not hurt anymore mommy!!" and started clapping and wanted to give me "sive" (five). I didn't realize how hungry she really was!!! I think that was a record time for her to put one of those things down!! I guess she is a super eater!!! I just love my girlas!!!

Purple Day!!

I was talking with Beene yesterday, telling her that she wasn't going to have Joy School today because it is a holiday. She got excited and said, "Green Day!!" I told her that it was actually President's Day. She got all upset and said that I told her that the next holiday after Valentines was Green Day!! I was telling her one day about St. Patricks Day and told her that she gets to wear green on that day! So, I went to the calendar and pointed out all the holidays to her. I pointed to the 17th and told her that was "green day" and then I got totally surprised... Easter is on the 23rd of March!!! I can't believe it is coming sooo soon. So, I pointed to the 23rd and told her that it was Easter that day, and she asked me what color she gets to wear on that day... I just told her the first pastel color that came to my head... purple. So, now she thinks that Easter is really called "Purple day!!" What a cute little girl I have.

I was wondering why I was seeing Easter stuff all over the place, and now I know why!

My little angel!!!

Why is it that kids are so stinkin cute, but they can be a little too honest at times. My mom always told me, "if you want the truth, ask a small child!" Boy was she right. We were at Macey's grocery shopping on Valentines day and we were back in the cheese section and this lady stopped right by us. Beene said in a really loud voice, "Mom, she has a witchy nose!" This lady had a bigger nose, and Beene was not afraid to tell me about it. I think the lady heard her say it, cause she looked over at us. I told her that we don't say things like that about people and we hurried out of there. Then, I was getting her in the car and she said in a really cute way, "Mommy, you have a fat butt!" I told here that wasn't nice and that it hurt my feelings, and she started to cry... then she said as she was crying, "But, I want you to have a fat butt, I like it that way!" Soooo sweet!! The girls used to chase me around the house trying to hit my butt, and when they would catch me they would say, "jiggly butt!!"

Julles tells people that they have yellow teeth, and Beene will tell you when your breath stinks. My mom said that one time she was shopping somewhere and this little boy kept following her everywhere she went. Then she heard him say, "Mama, there is a GIANT LADY over there!" When she walked around the corner, they were gone! If any of you know my mom, she is really tall. Her friends used to call her "Jolly Green Giant" in high school.

Anyway, I just thought I would let you all know that my daughter thinks my butt is fat!!! Why doesn't it hurt my feelings when she says it, but when anyone else does... I get really mad!! All I have been able to do since she said it, is laugh!!! Out of the mouths of babes... i guess!!

Loving the new backgrounds!!!

So, I love having a blog, but the ones that the blogspot people have aren't my favorite!!! Anyway, there is this site, Matiekay44.blogspot.com has some great new backgrounds. That is where I have gotten all of mine.

Anyway, this makes it more fun for me to do. I like that it looks cute!!

So, if you have a blog and haven't checked her out, you should if you are looking for a new look!!

Happy Valentines for the Johnson Family!!

Well, Valentines has come and gone... it seemed to last longer than most years, but it is over now!! We had a great day. Beene has been talking about Valentines since Halloween. She was so excited that we HAD to decorate the house. So we decorated right after we took down Christmas. We also had to buy her valentines to hand out to her friends... needless to say we have lots left over for next year.

Wednesday, Jonathan was working and he took his stuff down to stay the night at my mom's if the snow was bad. So, early that morning, he snuck to Macey's and got all my groceries that were on my list and then some presents for the girls and myself. He got me beautiful roses and a great card, that he says he "actually read". He also got the girls cards and their favorite candy, Starburst's. He told us that we couldn't open our cards until V-day, but that the roses were for me to enjoy all day long!! Saddly, he had to stay the night because the 1-4 inches that we were supposed to get here in Utah turned into a blizzard and the worst driving conditions for the winter.
So, yesterday when we woke up Beene ran into the kitchen and picked up her envelope and begged me to open it right then. So she gave Julles hers and they opened them at the same time. Julles yelled, "Daddy buyed Stawboosts for me!" She was so excited, we had to have treats before breakfast. On wednesday, Beene and I had a lengthy discussion about what to have for breakfast on the red day. She and I decided we would have pink heart pancakes and strawberries and cool whip (but seperatly... she can't have strawberries on her pancake only cool whip and had to have the berries in a bowl.) and I couldn't cut up her pancake, she had to because she is big! Then we had Heart shaped jelly sandwiches for lunch. For dinner we had what were supposed to be Heart shaped pizza's, but I couldn't get the dough into hearts. So we had regular shaped pizza's and Cherry 7-up for our "red" drink. Then for dessert we had vanilla pudding that I wanted to color pink, but the girls were totally against it. (the thought that it would taste different) We had strawberries on top of the pudding too! We also had a ton of chocolate and other fun candies yesterday. When I was putting Julles to bed she kept saying, "My tummy hurts!" I am sure it is from all the crap they ate all day. But, Valentines only comes once a year, so what the heck... right?

Now it is time to get all the magnets off my fridge and all the garland off my banister and put it away for next year! I hope she doesn't get a hankerin for St. Patty's day decor!

I hope you all had a fabulous day as well!!!

Another Girls Night in the books!!!

Girls Night Out is the highlight of my month. When I was growing up, my mom knew everyone in our neighborhood and then some. I always felt safe with all my neighbors and loved that I knew who lived in what house. Well, moving into my new neighborhood was a great thing for me. I decided that since I have this big basement, and I wanted to get to know the great people in my neighborhood other than at church or at the playground that I would do a monthly get together. I started in June and have had one every month except December. My friend Amy is a Stampin' Up director/demonstator. She has these great projects that you can do with a group of friends and she comes with everything ready to go, you just put it together and gab and eat. I have had people begging me to do another one since our last one in November. So, we got one together and had it last wednesday.

What fun we have at these things. We have three tables set up and we usually have between 9 and 15 people come. At each table this time we had a different card to make, we made four of each card so a total of 12 cards. We did it so that you could make them into birthday, thank you's, just because and anything else that you could think of. That way, if you needed more of one kind, you could make it that theme. We also did one that was kinda valentiney!! It is just a great to get together and chat with people and really get to know the people that live around you. I completely recommend doing something like this. We have had other ideas like chick-flick nights at someones home that has a theater, or a game night, or a cookie exchange night. We have been doing a lot of Stampin Up nights because it is so fun and you get to make super cute things.

I am going to start taking pictures of our fun times and one of my favorite parts is the food part of the entertaining, I want to start posting the recipes that I use. If you know me very well, I love to cook... I love to entertain and making the food is always the part that gets the most attention. This last time I was proud of myself because usually I go way overboard on the food and this time I only had a few things out. I was totally excited that day because I had gone to the dr and I have lost 11 pounds over the last 2 months. So, instead of doing some majorly fatty food, I did a colorful veggie tray with "fat free" ranch dip and some fake cream puffs which were super easy and yummy. My friend Keri brought some super yummy peach-mango salsa and chips and my friend Sandy brought some trail mix. Anyway... i have to dig out the recipe for the cream puffs and I will post that later.

I am greatful to my husband who completely supports me having people at our house once a month and always helps me decide what to serve and such. I am such a lucky girl to have him in my life!

Well, that is my blabbering for the moment!! Caio!
